And so, in Washington, DC...

This is a pentagram, the most widely used religious symbol in history, dating back to the Mayans, the Egyptians, and the Chinese.



Two hundred years ago, known Freemason George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and architect Pierre Charles L'Enfant designed the street layout for Washington, DC. The map below is current. The star represents the White House.



When you connect the streets of Washington, you get the following:



Now here's the most famous of all Freemason symbols—the compass and the square—two points facing up, two points facing down:



The star on the below map is the U.S. Capitol. Connect the streets there and you get:



And so, 200 years ago, the Freemasons marked the nation's capital. The question remains: Why?
